STOP
THE POLES TOWN MEETING
The Stop the Poles Town Meeting will be held at the
Elmer Grange
on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
This will be a great opportunity for local residents to hear first-hand about the
controversial Atlantic City Electric Orchard Substation and high tension poles and wires
off Bridgeton Road in Upper Pittsgrove. There will be a presentation followed by a
question and answer period.
Stop the Poles started with frustrated neighbors that wanted to stop
Atlantic City Electric from destroying the landscape in this scenic, rural, farming
community. The group believes that the poles and substation de-value nearby properties,
are a safety hazard along the roadway, cause health concerns and have a negative economic
impact on farmers, local businesses and agri-tourism.
Stop the Poles goals include moving the new electrical service on
Bridgeton Road underground, along with all future electrical service, taxes to be
re-assessed for properties with view of sub-station and re-assessment for the Orchard
Sub-Station property so residents may benefit from reduced taxes.
Stop the Poles is a committee of residents concerned about preserving our
country environment. For more information about Stop the Poles call 358-8320 or visit www.StopThePoles.com
